Heading to Universal Studios with Food Allergies

I have an upcoming trip planned to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. I am beyond excited, as I haven't been to this famous amusement park in years. I am ready for a vacation that allows me to be a kid again! Lately, life has been hectic between work and the renovations in my apartment, so I am dreaming about vacation vibes.

Planning around food allergies for the vacation

The thing is, I have food allergies, and sometimes a getaway can be pretty stressful. The planning and the preparations required due to my food allergies can be quite the feat. One wouldn't think it would be so complicated, but when I started to lay out my trip and meals, I soon realized that planning is essential for the entire trip to go smoothly and avoid food allergens.

Packing allergy-friendly snacks for traveling

I will be attending the amusement parks on Friday and Saturday. My travel days on the road will be on Thursday and Sunday. I need to pack enough food and snacks for the drive there and the drive home. I will pack enough snacks to keep in the hotel room and throughout all the days at the parks.

Reviewing the food offerings

In addition, I need to bring breakfast to eat in the hotel room and look into the breakfast options at the hotel. Then I need to determine the lunch options offered at Universal Studios. Lastly, I must to figure out which restaurants to reserve tables in for dinners. I need to make many meal-related decisions before ever beginning the vacation.

In the hotel I am staying in, their breakfast menu offers options for me that will work with my allergy restrictions. I typically eat eggs with a side of fruit and a carbohydrate. In this case, the breakfast potatoes will work as a side dish that will fill me up for a day of walking at the amusement park.

Food allergies and planning are crucial

Once I list all of our meals for the duration of the vacation and the snacks that are involved, the depth of planning becomes clear. Before my food allergies, this would have never occurred to me. I could just eat at the most convenient restaurant without a second thought. But those days are over. Now, my life revolves around my food allergies. But if I plan ahead, then stick to my plan, I can still enjoy the vacation!

Eating at the amusement parks

To prepare for the long hours spent at the parks, I will pack snacks in my backpack and research the lunch options in the park. This shouldn't be difficult as I know at Universal Studios; there will be somewhere where I can get a salad and grilled chicken. That is a safe meal for me. And the best news is that Universal Studios allows you to bring outside food and beverages, so I can pack my lunches in case I can't find an allergy-friendly option.

Additional considerations

I have already looked at restaurant menus in the area and will be making reservations, so dinner is covered. And for the ride home, I'll eat breakfast at the hotel again and have my snacks in the car.

As you can see, planning is essential for dealing with food allergies during vacation. And thankfully, most amusement parks now have many allergy-friendly food options, especially for those who need to avoid gluten, dairy, or nuts.
