Healing Physically Through the Mind
Lately, I've been listening to Dr. Joe Dispenza's talks often. His work, in addition to meditation and hypnotherapy, has completely changed my life and how I view my allergies, eczema, and other health conditions.
Realizing the connection between mind and body
Call me crazy or "woo-woo," but after doing hypnotherapy myself and having transcendental meditation experiences, I am convinced there is more to this reality than meets the eye. This means there's also more to "disease" than we may perceive with the 5 senses in everyday life.
If you're unfamiliar with Dr. Joe Dispenza's work, he speaks much about the mind and body connection. In particular, how we have the power to heal ourselves through our thoughts and alignment of our energy.
Your thoughts have power
I do believe there is an energetic and what one may call "spiritual" component to all this. And I wholeheartedly believe in the power of thoughts, beliefs, and our body's capacity to heal itself.
In summary, we are all born whole, perfect, and healthy (excluding genetic disorders). Then, our subconscious mind is rewired when we go through life and become conditioned and programmed to think specific thoughts and behave in certain ways (especially if we go through severe trauma).
It's said that trauma can cause disease to manifest in the body. I believe we've all suffered some kind of trauma. Trauma isn't just "big" things, like war or abuse; trauma can be anything and is very subjective.
The impact of mindfulness and meditation
So, what if we truly can heal the body with our thoughts, beliefs, and intention? An increasing body of research supports whole-patient care and the mind-body connection.1
Most of us go through life believing the same thoughts and thus generating the same feelings. The idea is to rewire those neural networks through therapy, meditation, mindfulness, and hypnotherapy. Through meditation and visualization, I believe that if we shift our internal state, we can also start to change our physical state.
Dealing with allergies and many other conditions
At the beginning of dealing with allergies, atopic dermatitis, and celiac disease, among other things, it was difficult for me to imagine myself as healed from these health conditions, let alone believe it is possible.
But after participating in hypnotherapy and meditating regularly, I have been able to clear a lot of the trauma that has held me back my entire life. And believe it or not, my body has also been reflecting my inner healing to physically heal as I do this mindfulness work.
So, what if it is possible? What if your body holds the wisdom and energy it needs to heal itself, and we need to get out of our own way and allow it to happen? These are the questions I consider throughout my healing journey.
Is healing possible through thoughts?
I've noticed that my mind and mental programming have been a roadblock to my physical health. So, I believe in the power of my thoughts and mindset. I also think we all deserve to be healthy. A slight shift in your thought process can cause a positive domino effect.
It may start with a core belief that the impossible is possible and that we deserve good health. Even the word "impossible" itself says, "I'm possible."
This change in perspective could begin to change our internal and external words. And if nothing else, it certainly doesn't hurt to try.
