Blamed By Restaurant For Not Knowing Their Ingredients

I was with my girlfriend at the time and we went to an Applebee's when they first started their 2 for $20 promotion and they gave you a picture menu of it. I ordered a chicken dish that they brought out. So I picked the edge of the chicken up because I saw something under it and it turned out to be some kind of cheese sauce. I sniffed it because I can often work out if there's an allergen in it by doing so and it smelled off to me. I asked the waitress if she could go ask if there were eggs in the sauce.

Food allergy miscommunication

I watched her walk to the kitchen door and come right back. She said, "Nope, no eggs in it".

I said to her, "I watched you and you didn't even have time to ask the question. And if I believed you I could die, so could you go ask for real?".

She goes back up and actually asks the questions and comes back, "yes, there are eggs in the sauce".

I said to her, "you're lucky I didn't just blindly trust you. And you're lucky that you did this to an adult and not some kid. You could have killed someone's child by being lazy".

Blamed for not knowing the restaurant's ingredients

The hostess then comes over and asks what was happening and I told her exactly how things went and she proceeded to tell me, "Well, you should know these things since you're the one with the allergies".

I said, "how the F**K would I know the ingredients to your food? I'm not the one cooking it. You really think this is my fault? Please just go away."

I wasn't exactly friendly when talking to her since she blamed me for the entire incident.

Both of them weren't there anymore shortly after that. I didn't complain or anything to management, but I'm sure they heard about it.
