Hives

I've had this since I was a teenager. Im 61 now. When I was younger the hives might appear in different places on my body.
For the past 10 years 95% of the time they appear on my feet.
I've been to several Drs and had diagnosis from peanut butter, chocolate, antiinflammatories meds.
I went a year without taking a single nsad.
Still had hives.
Anyone know something about this.Deep itching red hive on arch of foot.

  1. Thanks Erin
Yes there's itching to start with. It feels like it's deep tissue itching. The kind that makes me want to rub against the sharp edge of something hard like a chair leg. Once you do that it really gets angry, turns red and swells faster. Allegra or Benadryl will make it slowly go away. I don't tolerate Benadryl very well unless I want to sleep for a day. Often the next day the area where it occurred is sore.
Another thing is that I can go months without an episode. Then it might be a one time flare up or it might do it nearly daily for a while. I can be walking barefoot through the house and step on something like a tiny piece of gravel that got tracked in and it'll make a hive flare up.
I know this all seems odd but I've had 45 years of experience with it. I was in grade school the first time I had a hive. It was my lip and cheek. I remember the teacher asking me if id been in a fight
    Thanks Erin

    1. , huh; that's pretty interesting! It sounds like you know what to do with the hives and how to manage them, so I won't offer any unhelpful advice. I, too, tend to avoid Benadryl -- it makes me groggy and cranky the next day! It does sounds like one heck of an overactivated immune response to stimuli/stressors.

  2. Hi, !

I wish I had some magical answer as to why your keep getting hives, even with or without NSADs. And, as to why they occur mostly on your feet, well, that is yet another mystery. It does seem that for some people, their hives concentrate to specific body parts, like arms, legs, face, etc. And, yes, they do sometimes seem to congregate on one's feet. Who the heck knows why? It does sound like the doctors are still missing something; a piece to the puzzle. Have you been able to figure out any trigger your doctors may have missed? Do you experience any other symptoms along with the hives, like itching, flushing, swelling, etc?
