Iowa

Is Iowa a good place to retire for seasonal allergy sufferers?

  1. Hi, !

That's a great question! And I hope our members from Iowa chime in here with some answers for you. I live in another agriculture heavy state (Indiana) and I can say that it's not the best for the seasonal allergy sufferers in my family. That said, the benefits do outweigh the problems, so we make it work. It definitely depends on what your seasonal allergens are, too. If you want to get an accurate idea of what the allergens may be like in Iowa, there are a number of 'allergy' sites that I use to check on such things. Obviously, the allergens in Iowa are pretty low right now, but the sites may be more useful to check during allergen seasons, so you can start to see any trends.

    I use this one -- https://weather.com/forecast/allergy

    And this one -- https://www.iqair.com/us/usa/iowa/davenport

And also this one -- https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/davenport

Please keep in mind that these sites are commerce sites, so they may try to sell you something (like air purifiers) or get your email, but I am able to check the daily allergen counts without using my email.

I hope this helps and I hope others living in the Iowa area can offer some insight for you, too!

    1. And apologies that my links aren't 'live', . Sometimes that happens. You should be able to copy and paste the links into your web browser.
