What Are Your Triggers?

Allergic reactions can come seemingly out of nowhere when you least expect them. For some, allergies develop early in life, with triggers that stay consistent. For others, allergies change over time, with triggers that are often unpredictable.

What are your allergy triggers? How did you find out for sure that was it??

  1. Heya. My trigger is all spices. I’m allergic to birch pollen and spices. I believe that the two are linked (cross reactivity syndrome) and possibly also mugwort too. I think that I have oral allergy syndrome but that is not confirmed either. I look forward to contributing on here. I’m in my twenties. I have a dog. This is a photo of him. I love to bake.

    1. Heya.

To answer your first question Milo. This is what I’ve called him. To answer your second question. Not really. It is much easier than I thought. Yes they certainly are. Happy to meet you too.

    2. Milo, what a great name! If I'm reading your response correctly, it seems like you're in a good place with your allergies management. That's great to hear! -Alexa (Allergies.net moderator)

  2. I finished the steroids around a week ago. My daughter is hospitalized for encephalitis and now catatonia. She is allergic to sulpha in medication. My anxiety levels are a bit high do to being there for my daughter for 5 weeks. Any great ideas for me since I have no car and very little money since the last time I worked ?

    1. , I'm so sorry to hear about all the pain, anxiety and stressors you and your daughter are facing right now. It's frustrating that there are not better supports in place to help people get to and from the hospital affordably. Depending on where you are located, sometimes there are programs that help people and caregivers with transportation to their own doctor's appointments. This company: https://www.modivcare.com/ is the one I know of, it does not operate in every city, but it may be worth looking into to see if they are present in your area and can support some of your medical transportation needs. Hope this helps!

  3. Hi. I'm 40 years old. I have severe allergic reactions to some medications and to almost all corn products, as well as to iron. Airborne as well. It's rough for me to go shopping where they sell popcorn especially freshly popped popcorn.

    1. Hi , Thanks for sharing with us. It's so tough trying to navigate the world with serious airborne allergies, when so many are ignorant of how they may be affecting those around them! Corn/corn syrup is in so many products these days, I'm sure it's hard to avoid entirely! Did your allergies develop later in life or have you been experiencing them since you were young?

  4. Hi. I'm doing much better since the allergic reaction i had around a month ago to iron that was in a pill. I'm on 30 mg of prednisone and lowering it by 5 mg every 4 days.

    1. So glad to hear you are doing better. I hope you continue to feel well and that you are free from any allergies. Hugs, Elizabeth (team member)
