Sudden allergy to everything

I recently had the gastro bug (18 July ish) and in the last weeks I have suddenly started having allergic reactions to everything I eat. My symptoms are red flushing, eye swelling, eye eczema, itchiness and these small water blisters that come up on my hands during a reaction. I have had some histamine intolerance issues in the past, but I have never experienced anything like this before. Blood tests came back normal and the doctor didn’t know what was wrong. Has anyone has something like this before and could give some advice? Thanks in advance.

  1. Sounds like something to do with your autoimmune system. Possibly lupus, mast cell activation syndrome and or just mixed food sensitivities?

    1. Hi! It is happening to me as well. Since a month and half I am having a swollen and irritated throat due to high allergic reaction to almost everything (except 5 foods) Even creams in my face and dust…just mentioned…
I have a post nasal drip that just irritates all my nostrils and throat leading me to have some sort asthma attacks, choking and no breathing. Was once in the ER and after visiting so many doctors not one can do anything for me except giving me steroids, antihistamine, and pain relief.

      1. I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this too. I suspect it is something like MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome) and some serious gut issues that need addressing. I hope you manage to find some relief in time. Don’t stop fighting for your health x

    2. Oh, goodness, !

As if dealing with a gastro bug wasn't tough enough, now you are facing food sensitivities! Argh!

This can happen after a bout of a stomach bug. I would follow up with a specialist, if you can. You may want to see an allergist or a gastroenterologist. Sometimes, people can experience an improvement in their symptoms once their gut biome can return to normal. This especially applies if you have been taken antibiotics for any length of time.

Your digestive system is definitely still in 'high alert' mode and a specialist may be able to help you pinpoint what's going on and how to treat it.

Please be careful and make note if you experience any signs of a severe allergic reaction like trouble breathing, swelling tongue, etc.

I do hope you get some answers (and relief!) very soon!
