Has anyone have any symptoms or experiences like this??

I’ve known food intolerances to msg, food coloring, preservatives, parsley, coriander, etc. If anything happens, it would usually be 30 mins after food. My mild symptom would be nausea, but if it’s severe I’d drop my blood pressure, clammy, I just want to lie down and at worst I’d passed out
Sometimes it happened to just reheating the same food I made the day before.
Twice it happened when I had cherries and apple!
The two immunologists refuse to believe I’ve allergies problem because I never have airway issue. It’s always either I feel nauseous or my blood pressure just dropped quickly that I may passed out.

I just want to know if anyone is experiencing what I’m going through?

  1. Hi Erin

I’ve done allergy tests, I was told I’m not allergic to the food that I’ve problem with. It’s intolerances instead. It’s getting to the point that I can’t pinpoint to anything anymore. Cuz it happens quite often these days. I’ve seen other specialists such as endocrinologist, cardiologist, neurologist and gastroenterologist they all point out I’m having allergic issues. I’m seeing other allergist soon. Hopefully, someone can have some bright ideas so I can enjoy food and not to worry about getting sick.

    Thanks for your response.

    1. , okay. Thanks for explaining. I think I understand. I have two kids that fall under the "food intolerance" umbrella, too, and I know that can be frustrating. Those intolerances are not seen as allergies, but they can definitely impact one's quality of life, I know.

Have they had you try any food elimination diets? Those can be kind of a pain, but they may help to pinpoint some triggers. I guess the good news is that all of the specialists have seen can agree on one thing -- you ARE experiencing some allergies. So, there's that. I do hope the allergist you are seeing soon is able to offer some more concrete help!

  2. Hi, !

First off, I am sorry you are experiencing these issues and still struggling to get answers. Secondly, I do not want to contradict immunologists, but I am curious what their thought process is when concluding that you don't have allergies. Some people have allergies that restrict breathing, while others experience more of what I would call topical/skin irritations, so ruling allergies out based on the lack of airway issues seems . . . premature. Have they suggested any other possible causes for your symptoms, if not allergies?

It *does* sound like your body is definitely having some type of reaction to foods you are eating, but pinpointing the "why" may be a challenge.

Are you keeping a food/symptom diary? I know it can be a pain to track every bite you eat, but it might help you see some patterns (or not). And it will give you some tangible evidence to take back to your doctor.

Also, you may have already read this information, but it covers the basics of what constitutes a food allergy and the different parts of the body it can affect -- https://allergies.net/food/symptoms. You will see that food allergies can cause low pressure, dizziness, and nausea, among other symptoms. You may ask for a referral to an allergist, if you haven't already seen one. And here's some basics on the testing that can be done for food allergies -- https://allergies.net/food/diagnosis. I would definitely keep pushing for answers, especially if you notice your symptoms worsening or spreading to even more food groups.
